Meet Jack

Jack Elgin, CIMA®
Managing Partner
Serving clients since 2000.
A seasoned financial advisor, Jack helps his clients navigate all of life’s twists and turns. Leveraging Longbridge’s proprietary process, he gives them a realistic view of where they are, what they have, and what they can do to efficiently accomplish their goals. Having served clients through a variety of markets, he focuses on creating detailed, balanced plans that strive to protect his clients’ financial wellbeing and help them stay on track for their goals no matter what’s happening in the market. Appreciating the power of proof, he shows his clients their situations and corresponding plans in black and white, helping them understand the why and how behind each strategy so they feel confident about their path forward.
Approach
Jack provides pertinent and practical education for each client, empowering them to make informed, confident decisions about their financial future. From there, he lets the client take the lead—what do they want to learn more about; what concerns are on their mind? He knows that not everyone wants to dive into the weeds of their plan (though some do), and he adapts his conversations accordingly, helping each person feel comfortable with their strategies and take ownership of their next steps.
Professional Passion
As a founding partner of Longbridge, Jack is intentional about cultivating a culture of encouragement and growth. He believes in stretching beyond one’s comfort zone and collaborating as a team, bringing the best out of each other to make the greatest collective impact on clients’ lives. He’s also passionate about coaching and mentoring advisors and staff. His goal is to give them whatever they need to keep moving forward, whether that’s encouragement, support, or a gentle push in the right direction.
Professional Experience
Jack started his financial career in 1993 as a plant controller (and later divisional controller) for a Fortune 500 company. In his six years at the company, he gained valuable knowledge about corporate finance, but the more he advanced in his role, the fewer one-on-one connections he had with people. Helping people was where he found his joy, so in January of 2000, he joined Merril Lynch to become an advisor. There, he met Neven, who became a valuable mentor and, later, business partner. In 2010, they launched an independent practice and formed Longbridge Wealth Advisors, now known as Longbridge Wealth at Steward Partners, a feat Jack calls “the best thing we ever did.”
Credentials
- Bachelor of Science in Business – University of Dayton

Community Involvement
For the better part of the last decade, Jack has volunteered his time to youth coaching. He was heavily involved in the Columbus Diocese CYO program and has been the football commissioner and head coach for St. Paul School. Over the years, he has also coached basketball and baseball for various programs. His mission in these roles is to help kids and teens prepare for their next phase of life. He’s passionate about helping them become gritty and committed adults, teaching them how to be good teammates, hold themselves accountable, and work together.
Personal Life
Jack is a determined, kindhearted person who loves his family. For the last two decades, his life has more or less revolved around his sons—his oldest, Jack, who is studying accounting at Valparaiso University in Indiana, Josh, a freshman in high school, and Andrew, his son with Downs Syndrome who taught Jack to see from a different perspective. At the center of their family is Mandy, Jack’s wife of more than 20 years who, in his words, “takes care of everybody.” Jack enjoys filling his free time fishing with his boys, golfing, and hanging out with his family.
